Resurrecting Two Decades of Darkness: The Obsidian Resurrection's Long-Awaited Album Emerges

The Obsidian Resurrection is poised to make a comeback with their upcoming album, “As Darkness Falls," set for release on January 10, 2025. This album has been a remarkable trip of resilience and creativity, over two decades in the making.

Obsidian Reborn

Originally formed in early 2000 in Modesto, California, the band has undergone numerous transformations and challenges over the years with breakup situations and life’s pitfalls. Obsidian (the original band name) ended up shelving a lot good music. Over 25 years later, The Obsidian Resurrection emerges with a renewed vision, blending those early songs with modern production to give us As Darkness Falls.

The current lineup features:

- Deimitri Reyes - Vocals and guitars

- Danny Stevenson - Keyboards and synths

- Josh Jones - Bass

- Alex Bosson - Drums

As Darkness Falls

The songs on the new album promise a heavy and dense symphony of brutality, staying true to their roots and that youthful energy from their earliest metal experiences. Prophecy’s Will, the first single out, has set the stage for something pretty stellar. This presents a unique perspective and an opportunity to bring back some of the tastiest death metal to 2025. The band has seen a lot of glitches, but the resiliance is strong. As Darkness Falls was always going to happen.

Despite being spread across different states, the guys have decided to take advantage of tech to write online. It’s allowed them to breathe new life into their music. As Darkness Falls is mixed by Carlos Alvarez at Dirty Viking Audio and mastered by Brett Caldas-Lima at Tower Studio. A professional sound that captures the raw energy of the band's performances while showcasing their evolution in metal.

Pre-Order the new album now

As Darkness Falls can be pre-ordered on their Bandcamp page. Prophecy’s Will is available for download right now, and it’s solid. The vocals are true old school, death metal grit, and the solos are intense. It’s a 6 minute and 41 second track of pure evil that blends harmonic solos and thrashy riffs, begging for a neck snapping reaction.
