Drew Russell’s Fearless Genre Fusion: Into The Night

Courtesy of Drew Russell

Into The Night, Drew Russell’s debut EP, releases tonight with a launch party at The Junk Bar in Brisbane, Australia. It started with the drop of his new single Deliverance on the 19th of May; a catchy, banjo-heavy masterpiece.

Into The Night showcases Drew’s musically diverse skill set as well as his production prowess, as he independently mixed and mastered everything himself—really well.  After a unique intro track leading into the very fun, energetic Deliverance, we hit Broken Tape, a song inspired by the writing of classic greats like The Kinks and Del Shannon.

The total collection, from Every Little Bleed to the final track, Into The Night, exposes a story of spiritual growth and personal discovery. Russell’s voice is more professional and radio-worthy than you’d expect an independently produced and promoted album to deliver, introducing a higher standard in the wake of self-supporting artists.

He chose his introductory single well, as Deliverance really stands out as the star of this EP. The banjo playing is impressive and brings life to the party. Drew has masterfully mixed genres from bluegrass to vintage pop rock into a unique sonic dessert of melody and movement.

If you’re a lover of inventive indie songwriting, definitely take some time to check out Into The Night from Drew Russell.

“It’s realizing that you have a bright shining light inside you that, even if it only shines a bit, can light up an entire room if you let it

Drew Russell’s words in regards to Into The Night’s deeper message. I’d keep an eye out for this one; both his musical talent and his intuitive aptitude have the potential to take him pretty far. The launch party got underway tonight (May 24th release) at The Junk Bar in Brisbane, featuring intimate, acoustic music from several different performers. Drew was joined by Talitha Jae and Jordan Egan.

The Junk Bar is Brisbane’s first (and one of the best) small, independent venues, supporting both emerging and established musicians in the area.
